| Church Council |
 |
The twelve members of church
council participate in the life of church in many ways. Council members serve as communion
assistants throughout their term, take communion to shut-ins, and generally support the
pastor in Worship. Council members serve as liaisons to the standing committees, attending
the committee meetings and reporting back to church council. They review candidates for
ministerial study, administer the congregational finances and operations, oversee the
committees and guide the congregation. Four council members are elected in the fall for a
three-year term. |

| Committees |
| Communications
Committee |
|
This committee is responsible for
all communications to the congregation and the general public about activities at St.
Paul's. They do this in a number of ways: publications to members and friends, newspaper
notices, advertising, and any other means available. The committee is also responsible for
maintaining the telephone system, church computers, and all other office equipment. It is
a challenge for this committee to keep up to date as the global communications advance in
technology. We welcome your input. |
|
| Christian
Education Committee |
|
This committee is responsible for
the development and implementation of an education program to inform members of all ages
about the Bible, Christian life, and Lutheran traditions. They do this through several
opportunities: Sunday Church School, Vacation Bible School, Bible Study classes,
confirmation classes, and other educational offerings. Suggestions for topics are always
welcome as well as leaders who are willing to lead discussions. This committee accepts new
leaders and members at any time. |
|
| Evangelism
Committee |
|
Spreading the good news of the
Gospel throughout our area is the duty of the Evangelism Committee. "Say hello!"
That's the beginning of the Evangelism ministry. All persons are encouraged to be an
active part of the Evangelism Committee by greeting and meeting visitors and introducing
them to various people or areas of St. Paul's. |
|
| Property
Committee |
|
Our church property is over thirty
years old and as any homeowner can attest to, it does require maintenance. We have an
active property committee which oversees the accomplishment of repairs or renovations,
identifies property needs and development, and maintains the facilities, furnishings, and
grounds. The property committee is always looking for people who can help with various
chores, either on designated workdays or on your own time. All skills and talents are
welcome. |
|
| Social
Ministry Committee |
|
This committee coordinates the
participation of the congregation in activities that aid the poor, homeless, physically or
mentally disabled, those in prison and others in need. They see that neediness within the
congregation and in the local community are brought to the attention of the congregation.
Some ongoing ministries are: Interfaith Hospitality Network (housing and feeding the
homeless on a rotating basis with other churches), CROP Walk, Prison Ministry, Lutheran
World Relief Good Coffee for a Good Cause, and Refugee Resettlement, along with other
ministries as they arise. Your participation is encouraged. |
|
| Stewardship
Committee |
|
The management of what is
available to us, as a proper part of every Christian's life is the goal of the stewardship
committee's efforts. They hope to convey the concept that our time, our talents, and our
treasure may all be shared. They meet monthly at the all committee night and seek ways to
spread the stewardship information throughout the year. |
|
| Worship
Committee |
|
The committee oversees the worship
activities and the music program by providing a proper setting for preaching of the Word
and administration of the Sacraments. They support the pastor and the church musician in
selection of proper, meaningful and acceptable liturgical forms of worship. Education and
opportunities for varied worship and experiences are provided to deepen the spiritual life
of the congregation. Comments and input are encouraged from the membership. |
|
| Youth
Ministry |
|
The Youth Ministry Committee is
responsible for maintaining a program to guide the spiritual development of our adolescent
members by providing social events, service events, and worship events. It also provides
activities under adult leadership to emphasize the role of the church in the life of the
youth. Adult leadership is always needed. Contact our Minister of Education and Youth,
Diane Archer. |
|
| Memorials
Committee |
|
This committee is responsible for
all donations, bequests, and memorial gifts to the congregation. They record and evaluate
requests. They will assist potential donors in the identification of items or projects
suitable for donation to the congregation. The committee records and acknowledges such
donations, bequests and gifts to the congregation. |
|
| Seminary
Scholarship Committee |
|
This is a sub-committee of the
Congregation Council who reviews applications and recommends disbursements from the
Seminary Scholarship Fund. St. Paul's has seen several of its members through seminary and
ordination with several more in the process. We invite your inquiries into this committee. |
|
| Global Missions
Committee |
|
This committee is a sub-committee of the
Congregation Council and works to bring the world of global missions to St. Paul's
membership. They oversee the Lutheran World Relief coffee sales, help with CROP walk,
participate in the World Hunger drive, and bring the life and world of our missionaries
overseas back to the people of St. Paul's. If you have an interest in global missions,
please speak with the committee. |
