FAITH FORWARD -- Construction
Updates Click on any of the following file tabs to view our architectural drawings....
We moved the little yellow Vicar house on August 12, 2007. The next day we received a huge mountain of dirt. Excitement. Then we waited some more. The first week of October brought tree protection fences, heavy equipment, yellow construction tape, and construction workers. Then work stopped again. On December 11, 2007, we appeared before the Durham Board of Adjustment to obtain a Certificate of Use permit, which was granted. We could not proceed with construction without the permit, which in itself is a long, detailed conversation. With this behind us, we hope to proceed at a faster pace in the new year. Now it is January 4, 2008 and we have bulldozers on the property, tearing down walls, sidewalks, and driveway! (check the photos below!) The Pickett Road entrance of the property is now closed and will be so quite a while. Please use caution entering and exiting from Cornwallis Road, as all traffic in our parking lot will be traveling through that entrance. You can plan on dramatic changes in the coming weeks as the project finally moves into the construction phase. February and we've had some rain. We're also closing off some more entrances so we ask people to please be aware of all emergency exits now. Parking is a bit more scarce for a couple months so carpool whenever possible or take advantage of the Saturday night worship service. Now March and the rains have come (thankfully) but it is adding some water issues to the mix. We are moving bad dirt out and getting the fellowship hall space ready with good fill. When viewing the photos below, the latest photos are added at the far right so just keep looking! If you have any questions concerning construction, please consult with a staff member or Building Steering Committee (Will Sampson, Barbara Anderson, Doug Whitfield, Eric Staehle, Larry Lloyd) or contact the church office, and not the construction crew. And of course -- Please observe all safety precautions!
